Pros

  • Easy to install
  • Does just what it says, allowing players to enjoy their trucks' performance

Cons

  • Unnecessary for those who are already patched up
  • Some players will find the new levels of speed too tempting and will run into trouble with the law

The Euro Truck Simulator 2 No Speed Limit mod allows players of the game to drive their rigs as fast as they would like, instead of being bound by an artificial limiter. Euro Truck Simulator 2 has found many fans among people who would normally avoid such relatively realistic games. One thing that some of those new devotees have found unsatisfying about the game, however, is that by default, drivers are not allowed to exceed 90km/h. If they try to do so in early versions of the stock game, they quickly hit hard-coded limits, leaving many wishing there were ways to enjoy a faster-paced experience. The No Speed Limit modification provides that experience.

Installation is as easy as it could be. Players simply need to extract the archive's contents into the "mods" folder where the game's personal data is stored. This is typically within a folder called "Euro Truck Simulator 2" in a user's "My Documents" directory, unless saved elsewhere by the user.

Once installed, players can rev their truck's engine higher, which makes cross-country trips much faster. Despite this newfound freedom, the police still take an interest in keeping truckers within the law, and they will issue tickets for speeding and other infractions, which can cut into a drivers' professional progress. Still, this mod provides a great way for those playing older versions of the game to enjoy a feature that has been offered by default since patch 1.4.1 was released.
